Let's talk about last night.
Chef Danny Smith of Frank's and Frank's Outback in Pawleys Island held a seven-course practice dinner at Benjamin's Bakery in Surfside to raise funds for his World Food Championships journey to Dallas, Texas, in October.
And if you were there, your taste buds are still thanking you.
Smith is a multiple-award winning chef and is putting our culinary adventure on the national scene. The dishes he and sous chef Charles Bardo created were superb in flavor and presentation.
The best dish of the night was a tie for us. The South Carolina Shrimp Bisque with Creme Fraiche and Ciabatta Bread Croutons and Parmesan Encrusted Flounder, Butter-Poached Carolina Shrimp, Palmetto Farms Stone White Cheddar Grits, Sauteed Beets and Greens and a Carolina Blue Crab Butter Sauce were amazing.
The World Food Championships will be held October 16 through 20. For more information, please visit their Facebook page.
Take a look at the photos below - with dish captions - to see what we were very fortunate to taste.
