December's Simply Amazing Dish of the Month comes from a restaurant that's new to Front Street in Georgetown. Owner Jimmy Pronesti's Root only opened less than a month ago and Chef David Cochrane has consistently been putting out great dishes. The award winner is no different. It's the Beef Short Ribs! It's red wine-braised and over Anson Mills polenta, roasted root vegetables, gremolata, local greens and gravy. The meat is so moist and succulent, it's cuts with just a fork. And the polenta pairing is just right touch. Go by Root at 919 Front Street and for the dish by name! It won't disappoint! Why not have a little fun while shopping for your Christmas gifts.... come SIP & SHOP with Front Street merchants on Wednesday, December 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The official grand opening of Southern Comforts, Southern Dining & Seafood Shack in the Hammock Shops Village changed that. For the good, may I add. More than 25 people braved the cold evening to join in the celebration hosted by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. Not only did the guests get to sample some tasty offerings, they also heard from Metcalfe his plans to open a second restaurant in the previous location. It'll be a tex-mex flavorful explosion. The restaurant featured today has a 120-seat event center that can host all of your holiday festivities. So, if you are a business trying to decide where to have your Christmas party, this is the spot! Enjoy the photos from today's grand opening and come experience a great meal! On the evening of November 29, 2018, some distinct and pleasuring wines offered by Coastal Wine Boutique in the Hammock Shops (with another location in Myrtle Beach) paired with "sweet and savory" tastes from Incredible Edibles in Pawleys Island took customers on a pallet-pleasing cruise of excellent flavors. Five unique world wines, including the Ukrainian Korolevskoe Shabo semi-sweet red wine, complimented delicious tastes that really matched well. Enjoy the photos below and stop in either shop to create your own pairing combinations! Even the cancellation of this year's Christmas parade couldn't damper the children's spirit as they walked into Harborside Seafood and Italian restaurant to see and eat breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Clause. The annual event benefits Miss Ruby's Kids, a nonprofit group enabling vulnerable families and caregivers to inspire a passion for learning in their children. They help prepare parents to be their child’s first, best teacher and support both parents and child throughout the child’s school career. The number of disadvantaged families and “at risk” children in Georgetown County far exceeds the resources and the reach of Miss Ruby’s Kids. Rather than despair, however, we have taken this condition as a challenge. Our hope and our goal are to increase the number of children and families served by our Home Visitors each year. We can only do this by broadening support for our program throughout the community. And today's event is just one such way of broadening that support.
Turnout was heavy and all the people who attended were wearing festive smiles and joyful patience as the children waited in line to see Santa and tell him their wishes! Owner and Chef Christopher Mitchel and his staff continuously outdo themselves with each event. The breakfast, consisting of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hot chocolate with marshmallows and apple and orange juice, did not disappoint. We hope you enjoy the photos from this year's Breakfast with Santa and ask you consider donating to Miss Ruby's Kids this Christmas. |
