The reach has grown! And, people are asking us what we recommend.

Not restaurants. We recommend all in Georgetown County! It's all about the swag! Products!

So, we've started a recommendation page. From time to time, we'll add to it what we think you'll enjoy. What could be useful in a chef's line of work. What sauces or rubs to check out. Anything we like and want to get others to like and buy, it'll be there!

Visit the page by clicking the link above or go to the bottom of the category list to the left and click "What I Recommend" and see who we added first! I can promise the "bloxx" are hot!

Enjoy!

Georgetown Foodland partners with '86 the Quo' in efforts to bring awareness to issues surrounding the restaurant industry!

"Welcome to the New Industry" is boldly stated on 86 the Quo's website. This is the defining tone a new group wants established in raising awareness and educating on issues in and surrounding the restaurant industry, one kitchen at a time.

And Georgetown Foodland proudly supports it.

Chef Dakota Kolb, one of the creators of the group, consistently and passionately works to connect other chefs who may need a safe and judgement-free place to discuss issues they couldn't discuss elsewhere or feel comfortable otherwise. Kolb, along with his wife Kyndal and friend Deanna Hohgrefe, knew something had to be done to provide an outlet for chefs who struggle with daily issues of stress and anxiety in the workplace, amongst other issues as well.

Kolb describes 86 the Quo here.

As of right now we are three people- all in the culinary industry- who are very passionate about the career we have chosen, and we are passionate about seeing a change in the status quo of the culture in the restaurant/culinary world. 86 The Quo is a movement created to start tackling and raising awareness of some major issues that surround the restaurant industry. Although, the issues that we deal with in this industry are not exclusive to our industry, we are specifically reaching out to our fellow culinarians because this is our chosen career. The issues that 86 The Quo will be talking about are: age and gender equality, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health, and sexual harassment.

We are here to educate, raise awareness, and have conversations about these major issues that the majority of us have experienced in one form or another. We hope that you will come alongside us, join in conversation, and share your own personal stories or hardships that you have experienced working in the culinary world. 86 The Quo is a judgement free zone- we are non-religious, non-political, and we hope that you will feel safe joining in on discussions and sharing solutions you may have to help change some of these "Norms" in this industry.

With this effort, a "new industry" can be achieved. One where chefs feel more open and relaxed, comfortable and safe.

Georgetown Foodland urges any chef and restaurant owner in Georgetown County needing a place to share their concerns, issues or ideas to reach out to 86 the Quo.
