An introduction to Palmetto Pastures

There's a lot that goes into making those great dishes at Georgetown County restaurants. Finding the freshest ingredients is first priority.

But how do chefs get those ingredients? They don't run to the nearest convenience store or shopping center. That's only if they're in a pinch.

Farm to table is concept that ensures the freshest produce gathered for those inspiring food creations has an origin point. In other words, chefs can answer exactly where the ingredients came from.

Those suppliers, known as purveyors, have the same passion and pride in growing and raising the produce chefs have in creating the mouth-watering dishes put on the menu.

Palmetto Pastures is one purveyor hoping to make a difference with their offerings.

Currently, they are providing free-range eggs to a few restaurants in Georgetown County. These eggs are local and pasture-based.
Picture
Our eggs come from grass grazing, bug catching, happy, sun bathing hens. Those hens are raised with no pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibiotics. The results are superior quality and nutrition.
Owner Mike Milligan and his family-run farm has been in operation since 2009.

You can enjoy these eggs in your food at Coffee Break Cafe on Front Street in the City of Georgetown and Rustic Table in Pawleys Island. You can buy them at Bearded Butcher on Fraser Street in Georgetown.

Plans for product expansion are in process. Expect to see more offered from Palmetto Pastures soon.

Grab a Double Cheeseburger at Seaboard Restaurant

I was in the mood for a good double cheeseburger while in Andrews. I thought I'd stop by Seaboard Restaurant and see my good friend Hope Cantley.

My thoughts didn't let me down.

As you can see above, the double cheeseburger I had was prepared to order and loaded with a side of fries. The lettuce and tomato were fresh as the burger. I also ordered a chicken tenders app. Those were so good, too!

Next time you're in town, see Hope and Seaboard Restaurant. You'll be glad you did.

Hibachi Steak, Shrimp & Chicken with Vegetables and Fried Rice

Not as packed as you'd see often, but Red Chopsticks was serving great food nonetheless.

Today, the Hibachi Steak, Shrimp and Chicken was called our name! And with the dish loaded with vegetables, you could not go wrong with this plentiful portion of food.

What's nice is the fried rice is served on the side, so you can add as you go and it doesn't drown the plate.

Fresh food all around!

Buffet Plate Full of Good Food!

I recently wrote about Seaboard Restaurant in Andrews being cozy. Well, the buffet lunch today proved that!

Seeing Brian and Hope Cantley brightened my day. Pleasant folks serving good comfort food to customers who feel like family. Take it from me, the atmosphere here is truly welcoming.

The expansion allows for even more people to come enjoy the buffet and experience the menu! Brian tells me the plan is to take the decor from the expansion and remodel the existing dining room to match. He also gave me a tour of the authentic photos on the wall showing the many trains that have visited the Seaboard rail line.

It's really pleasing to see history being kept alive and built around. Adding some good food around it doesn't hurt either.

You can get to know folks really well through the food they serve you. Today, I was made to feel like family. Not just with conversation, but a warm plate.

Visit Brian and Hope and tell'em Georgetown Foodland sent you. You'll enjoy some good dishes, a little history and a family welcoming.

Seaboard Burger

You may think there's not much to Andrews, South Carolina, in regards to dining choices. But say that to the locals and they'll tell you fast you haven't looked hard enough.

Seaboard Restaurant serves a "daily country buffet" and daily specials Sunday through Friday for lunch. They are open for dinner on Thursday and Friday. They are located at 64 Seaboard Road and are consistently filled to capacity.

Owner Hope Cantley strives on being personable with her customers, usually found greeting them as she walks through the dining room.

The buffet brings a lot of people to the tables, but some menu items are also not to miss. The Seaboard Burger, pictured above, and the Seaboard Petals are crowd pleasers.

Dine in or take out, your appetite will be satisfied.

Who says there's no place to eat in Andrews? They aren't looking.

The Kagias family have a great thing going with their restaurant. Tony can be seen personally making the pizzas during lunch time. The inside is really nice and since it sits on Main Street, it gives you the town eatery feeling you search for.

The subs are very flavorful and portioned just right. You definitely have to get the fried pickles to start.

The Ribeye Steak sandwich is ultimately satisfying.

Here's their menu:
