There's a lot that goes into making those great dishes at Georgetown County restaurants. Finding the freshest ingredients is first priority.

But how do chefs get those ingredients? They don't run to the nearest convenience store or shopping center. That's only if they're in a pinch.

Farm to table is concept that ensures the freshest produce gathered for those inspiring food creations has an origin point. In other words, chefs can answer exactly where the ingredients came from.

Those suppliers, known as purveyors, have the same passion and pride in growing and raising the produce chefs have in creating the mouth-watering dishes put on the menu.

Palmetto Pastures is one purveyor hoping to make a difference with their offerings.

Currently, they are providing free-range eggs to a few restaurants in Georgetown County. These eggs are local and pasture-based.

Our eggs come from grass grazing, bug catching, happy, sun bathing hens. Those hens are raised with no pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibiotics. The results are superior quality and nutrition.
Owner Mike Milligan and his family-run farm has been in operation since 2009.

You can enjoy these eggs in your food at Coffee Break Cafe on Front Street in the City of Georgetown and Rustic Table in Pawleys Island. You can buy them at Bearded Butcher on Fraser Street in Georgetown.

Plans for product expansion are in process. Expect to see more offered from Palmetto Pastures soon.
