Heavy rain was forecasted last Saturday for the second annual Shrimp & Grits Cook-Off presented by the Hammock Shops Village. But, leave it to Sharon Graham Abee and Santana Leroy of Events by Santana to have a clever solution.
Using the recently closed Pawleys Prime restaurant covered deck, the cook-off was safe and ready to please.
And it did. Early estimates show turnout was slightly more than last year's. There were a few new restaurants participating and two of the new eateries won awards!
Adam Kirby's Bistro 217 took home the People's Choice award and Greg Metcalfe's Southern Comforts Restaurant and Bakery won the Judges' Choice Award! For those keeping track, Southern Comforts also won Taste of Georgetown last year.
Funds raised go towards Miss Ruby's Kids. And the $10 wrist band for unlimited tasting was a huge hit with the people coming out!
Here's hoping for more participation from City of Georgetown restaurants next year. You were missed. Would love to see people taste what The River Room and The Townhouse has to offer and give the winners this year a run for their money!
